THE RAIN KING BASEMENT
WATERPROOFING SOLUTION!
Rain King will first
evaluate your basement's sub-floor and foundation footing
construction, as well other factors, such as whether your basement
is already finished, the basement's present condition and so forth.

In many cases, the most effective method of basement
waterproofing will be to install an
interior drainage system along the perimeter of your
basement beneath the sub-floor, running beside the foundation
footings. These are commonly known as French drains. This is
done by creating a minimal opening in the cement floor along the
walls.
A trough is then created and perforated drainage pipes are laid
in such a way that the system creates a gravity feed to a collection
tank at one point in the basement's perimeter. These drainage
pipes are then surrounded with gravel to allow the water to be
easily captured by the perforated pipes and directed toward the
collection tank. A small drain panel
is also installed against the wall. This allows any seepage
above the sub-floor to be captured by the drainage system as well.
Once the drainage system is installed beneath the sub-floor, the
drainage trough is fullly re-cemented and the area remains as
sound as the previous sub-floor. With this method, the ground
water beneath your home is continually collected and diverted before
it can rise to the level of the basement sub-floor.
This approach is designed to completely prevent any seepage that
may come up through the floor, and to capture any that may penetrate the
foundation. Water captured and diverted in this way is then
removed from basement using a
Sump Pump.
The Sump Pump system will eject the water up through a pipe that
leaves the house above the sill of your home's foundation.
This approach is designed to be the least intrusive and
disruptive to the foundation of your home and to the surrounding
terrain and existing landscaping.

A second method
of basement waterproofing is to install an
exterior drainage system along your home's
foundation footings.
This approach is sometimes more suitable and will depend upon
your home's foundation construction, basement condition and
other factors which Rain King will discuss with you at the time
of your basement's evaluation.
This method is similar in some respects to the interior
drainage system; however, it requires a deeper excavation of the
land that was backfilled all around your home's foundation, and
relies entirely upon a gravity feed system to remove the water
to a safe distance away from your home's foundation. This
approach does not use a sump pump. |
