ENCAPSULATION

Encapsulation involves installing a vapor barrier over all the exposed ground areas, as well as lining the foundation walls within the crawl space.

This vapor barrier can either be installed using a concrete pour or an extremely thick and durable, 20 mil vinyl barrier, which will not puncture if walked on, or if items are stored on top of it in the crawl space.

CRAWL SPACE DEHUMIDIFICATION

If the moisture in your crawl space requires it, a crawl space Dehumidification system is then installed to dry and condition the air within the crawl space. 

Crawl space dehumidifiers are extremely powerful and capable of marinating the space within an ideal range of relative humidity for the protection of your home and your family.

CONTROLLED VENTING OF YOUR CRAWL SPACE

Rain King will then assess the crawl space for a controlled venting and exhaust system, depending upon the climate, geographic location and ground conditions of your home.

While air vents contribute to excessive humidity in a crawl space, some waterproofing providers go to another extreme by sealing off a crawl space completely. 

However, this is not recommended, since a lack of adequate ventilation can make the area under your home susceptible to dry rot within a very short time.

The most effective and safest solution is to keep the area ventilated in a controlled manner, as well as keeping it dry.

CRAWL SPACE WATERPROOFING

In addition, if there is a problem of flooding inside the crawl space, Rain King will also install a waterproofing solution that may incorporate both a drainage system and sump pump similar to the waterproofing solutions described in more detail in related sections on this website.
